Business Title: Principal Designer I (Visual direction)

Work Location: Hangzhou China

Job Responsibilities: The Principal Designer is responsible for improving Alibaba.com Style-Guide to the highest level, and building a Design System which is the highest quality, efficiency, consistency, and flexibility. S/he will produce clear strategic solutions; interpret them into the creation of design systems; and document them into guidelines for global adoption.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying unmet platform-wide needs and initiating strategic solutions that will be utilized by worldwide user interface teams. S/he will lead and champion the development of new design patterns and components across flows.

The Principal Designer will initiate research and develop design principles based on the insights gained from that research. A deep knowledge of design trends related to e-Commerce and user centered design methodologies is imperative.

Job Requirements: Minimum 6+ years designing for large scale web interfaces. Some fluency in Mandarin.

Business Title: Principal Designer II (Interaction direction)

Work Location: Hangzhou China

Job Responsibilities: The Principal Designer is responsible for Understanding the needs of internal and external customers, the business, and the competitive landscape – through data-driven analysis and strong research methodologies.  Translate this understanding into a vision and strategic plan for research and design to meet the needs of the company, and setting the SMART goal to improve user experience.

The Principal Designer will develop and drive long-term user experience strategy into all aspects of Alibaba.com champion the short-term projects. Be a key catalyst in driving a culture of innovation and teamwork centered around the needs of our customers.

Job Requirements: Minimum 6+ years designing for large scale web interfaces. Some fluency in Mandarin.
